To house the 150 or so construction workers involved in the development of The Brando hotel on the islet—or motu—of Onetahi, a village of bungalows refurbished from Marlon Brando’s lodge and temporary barracks-style structures has been created. The staff village is located on the north side of the motu’s new airstrip.

Water is supplied to the village through a desalination plant, and there are water-treatment and composting capabilities on the motu, as well. Additionally, a communications infrastructure provides telephone and Internet service for the village’s occupants.

The village is expected to remain in operation until the development of Tetiaroa is completed, at which time all traces of it will be disassembled and removed from the atoll.
